- Lonely Planet: Lonely Planet has been setting the backpacker standards for three decades already. In their web site you'll find up-to-date travel information of all the countries plus a hell a lot more.
- Travel Independent: A massive resource of good (and free) travel tips. I found it extremely useful while planning my own trip.
- Art of travel: Compendium of backpacking tips.
- Pass Planet: A site where backpackers freely post their opinions about several destinations. I think the site is still under constant development, but the Asia and Latin America sections are pretty comprehensive.
- Odyssei: Wonderful website where a number of backpackers publish their travel stories, photos and tips. It's organized by countries and therefore it's a great asset to all those planning a travel itinerary out.
- Gap Year: Commercial site with a plethora of info and products related to gap year'ers, such as backpacks, travel insurance, overland tours, etc.
- Uber Tramp:
Backpacking website dedicated to independent travel. Backpacking Tips, Travel Articles, and Travel Writing.
- Cairns Unlimited: My friend Steve's website.

Internet forums
- Lonely Planet's thorntree: Organized in regional and thematic sections, the thorntree is probably the most active travel-related forum on the net.
- Boots'n'All forums: Another personal favorite with a very healthy community of experienced travelers.
- Wade's mailing group: Wonderful mailing group of people asking and answering each other's questions over the mail. Join the group if you're planning a long trip, for the group members are very helpful and participative.
- Travellers point: Another very active backpacker-orientated forum.

Round the World tickets
- One world: RTW ticket market top dog, the One world pool includes number one companies such as British Airways, Cathay, Qantas, Iberia, etc. Their RTW ticket is based on continents with a number of internal flights within each continent.
- Star alliance: Main competitor and also hosting well-known airlines such as Air Canada, Lufthansa, United or Thai. Their RTW ticket is based on global mileage.
- Sky team: Yet another pool of companies (Air France, Alitalia, Delta, Aero Mexico, etc) offering RTW tickets, less comprehensive than the other two above though.
- STA travel: World leader in student and youth travel. I recommend these guys, very professional and budget-conscious.
- Travel Nation : Fantastic and knowledgeable RTW-organizing agency. I have been recommended these guys by other backpackers.
- Air treks: A company specialized in multi-stop international air travel service.
- Trail finders: Tailor-made itineraries for a worldwide trip.
- Bridge the world: Another tailor-made holidays provider.

- Hector around the world: The chronicles of a Spaniard's one-year-long journey around the world - Travel Diary, photos, Budget, Travel Tips, Links and more.
- Leila Ghandi photo gallery: Leila, the girl I met in Tibet, sharing her wonderful travel photos with us. Check them out guys, she is a professional photographer with a divine talent.
- Never be complete: This fellow leaves it all behind and begins to plan his RTW trip for 2005. Wonderfully designed site with lots of content.
- The global trip: One of the most popular travelblogs on the net. This is his second trip around the world on top of that! Don't miss out the "Would you?" flash video clip: one of the most inspiring things I've seen in my life.
- The savage files: This aussie called Steve relates his long-ass journey around the world trip in a very humorous fashion!
- Flip top head: Read about Jimmie, an american backpacking across Europe.
- M ton Monde (written in French): Site of my two good french friends Guillaume and Francois in their 6 months trip from Paris to Beijing filming local weddings all the way through. Wonderful photos of local people and their traditional costumes.
- This is Vlad: Another travelblogs of a long journey during 2004 and 2005.
- There goes John: An american TV reporter and his one year and a half journey around the world. Very well designed web site.
- El viaje de Manolo (written in Spanish): the web site I found by fluke on a random Google search in autumn 2003 and that eventually triggered my own trip. In a way, Manolo and his website were the inspiration I needed to get going. Gracias Manolo...
- Daniel's blog: A very personal and introspective blog of a british guy on a RTW trip. It's divided in two parts: first and second.
- Middle of everywhere: All about Julie, Scott and their RTW in 2000.
- Vagabonding: Another classic, Mike's is a top notch travelogue with excellent videos and photographs. Well worth the reading.

- Hospitality club: A network of volunteers offering free accommodation at their places in over 100 countries for the sake of helping each other out and hanging out with other travelers.
- Hostel world: Priceless web site listing shitloads of budget hostels for every country, their price range and guests' feedback comments. You can also book a room in advance so you secure your accommodation upon arrival.
- Peace Corps: Fancy going abroad doing some humanitarian voluntary work? Apply to the Peace Corps!
